Paul Weller - Wake up the nation (5/10)

Well im a bit dissapointed with this album to be honest, after reading reviews from the BBC, Telegraph & NME i thought it was gonna be a killer album but unfortunately... i feel Weller has them all where he wants them because to be honest...its well boring

Obviously the music and lyrics fit really well together and tell a nice little story as Weller 'usually' does perfectly, but its just got no depth to it and no real kick to make any kind of statement...i find it a little dreary and it does exactly sound like an over the hill rockstar having a pop to be cool again. Dont get me wrong the modfather is a legend but theres a time and a place to stop... i feel this should have been done after is release 2 years ago '22 Dreams'.

'Trees' and 'Moonshine' are top tracks with some nice soulful rythms and plenty of organ to get your teeth, but overall its all a bit old and boring..... i think as a Weller fan you can actually leave this album on the shelf because it doesnt add anything to the Modfathers arsenal, it doesnt pack any real punch or conviction.... just an 'ok' album with no balls.
