Foals – Total Life Forever (8/10)

Foals are back with a refreshing album that excited me just like their debut. In many ways similar, the album packs even more boastfulness and changling riffs than ever before. Rhythmically perfect Foals express their solidarity from start to finish on this dazzling album.

Top tracks are most certainly the opener “Blue Blood” and “Total Life Forever” these are what I would describe as Foals at their best, very predictable in terms of what we have come to expect from the band that’s for sure, but there’s no denying its genius. No one can take this away from these guys. The drums and bass fit together like they are one instrument with the delicate guitars chipping away on the surface.

It’s definitely worth a purchase if you haven’t done so already. The question of the band yet to answer is...... will their next album be the same? if so, does the sound get tiring after a while? Most certainly not for me, but will the masses see these lads as one trick pony's?

I love it and im sure most people will, a quality summer album sure to echoe from festival to festival.

The Exhibition - The Crown/Coma (8.5/10)

Barnsley Natives ‘the exhibition’ certainly pack a punch that cannot go unnoticed with this entrancing double ‘A’ side Single release (OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE RECORDS).

“The Crown” kicks off with a sinister chilling intro which makes you ponder what journey this single will take you on. The track builds and builds with cut throat edge on lead guitar and thudding bass..... all wrapped together with swagger in the vocals. Almost perfect dynamics make this track weave in and out from start to finish with immense maturity regarding the structure and direction. Top track!!

“Coma” is a beautifully put together piece of work which seriously excites for many reasons..... Kicking off it’s stripped to the bones with a simplistic yet full sound; this dazzles and keeps you in close. The Vocals calmly enter spilling out the story that Pete Dand utters in such an accomplished manor. When reviewing new bands and there outputs it’s easy to criticize find faults and nominate comparisons......... The Exhibition has got me on this one!

It’s fresh yet mature and leaves your mouth watering for more.... i cant help that think that an album, given time and effort would be spectacular....

The Automatic - Tear The Signs Down (3/10)

Im not gonna go on too long about this one for obvious reasons. It wont be long until this band are on the indie scrap heap im sure, but i have heard Asda are looking for some shelf stackers which is always a bonus for the boys.

Im trying to find a song on the album which is an obvious single but i cant which is a little worrying. 'Run & Hide' at a push is probably the best track on the album..but even that doesnt add up to some of the new bands weaker tracks on their albums!!

i cant see this one being a big hit and will end up in bargain baskets across the UK! ...... leave this album alone...... ive spent 8 quid that i will never get back for this .... i feel like ive been robbed !

Yeasayer - Odd Blood (8/10)

Odd Blood is the self-produced second studio album by American experimental rock band Yeasayer. Recorded in the state of New York during 2009, it was released on February 8, 2010

what a wicked album this is from New York's natives Yeasayer.... what can i say...its a breath of fresh air and compliments the indie genre perfectly. Its very 80's influenced as most things these days but by no means is it an album thats been done before. 'Ampling Alp' & 'ONE' are my faves on this album as there really dancey in a chilled out kind of way ...almost euphoric kind of sounding in places...this album keeps you on the edge and wondering what delight is coming next.

Its not the best album in the world but its fresh and cool, festivals in the summer will be pumping with the sounds of Yeasayer this year i promise you that!

As i mensioned above not the best album ever made, i feel it could have been a little more consistant...it kind of dies off after track 7 'Rome'.... tracks 8,9 & 10 just dont live up to the heights of the start of the album and it fizzles unfortunately to an early death which is a real shame. Im sure they will be back with a follow up to this which should be a little more balanced..

worth a purchase !

Paul Weller - Wake up the nation (5/10)

Well im a bit dissapointed with this album to be honest, after reading reviews from the BBC, Telegraph & NME i thought it was gonna be a killer album but unfortunately... i feel Weller has them all where he wants them because to be honest...its well boring

Obviously the music and lyrics fit really well together and tell a nice little story as Weller 'usually' does perfectly, but its just got no depth to it and no real kick to make any kind of statement...i find it a little dreary and it does exactly sound like an over the hill rockstar having a pop to be cool again. Dont get me wrong the modfather is a legend but theres a time and a place to stop... i feel this should have been done after is release 2 years ago '22 Dreams'.

'Trees' and 'Moonshine' are top tracks with some nice soulful rythms and plenty of organ to get your teeth, but overall its all a bit old and boring..... i think as a Weller fan you can actually leave this album on the shelf because it doesnt add anything to the Modfathers arsenal, it doesnt pack any real punch or conviction.... just an 'ok' album with no balls.

Local Natives - Gorilla Manor (7.5/10)

Local Natives (formerly known as Cavil at Rest) is an indie rock band based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, USA. Their debut album, Gorilla Manor was first released in the UK, in November 2009 so i am a little slow on the uptake with this album, but its by no means old or not worth buying...what a little beauty this is.

So delicate and almost perfect, local natives really do know how to deliver angelic 3 part harmonies... really progressive yet soft and relaxing... this album takes you on a journey of tranquility from start to finnish.

The band’s also perfectly capable of delivering big anthems strong on memorable hooks – the likes of Shape Shifter and album opener Wide Eyes are sure to swim around the listener’s head for days. And while this accessibility is largely down to the breakthrough exploits of forerunners, Local Natives’ evident ambition and accomplished execution of even the grandest ideas sets them in good stead to not only follow several leads, but stand out on their own before long.

Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History(7.5/10)

Two Door Cinema Club are an Electropop/Indie Rock band from Bangor and Donaghadee, Northern Ireland They are signed to French record label Kitsuné Music, through which they released their debut album Tourist History on 1 March 2010....

Really upbeat poppy indie disco would be the way to describe this trio.... share a similar sound to friendly fires with a little less percussion.
This Album starts with 'cigarettes in the theatre' which to be honest sums up this band entirely... all the tracks follow the exact same path with the fast paced bass lines and dance drums beats which is absolutely brilliant indie dance music, but it does get a little repetative after about half an hour of listening. A perfect album to dance to in a bar but not all in one go to be honest. Its really catchy and grabs your attention for sure, but once its got your attention you want more sounds and differant tracks...this is where the album breaks down to a halt. A very one dimensional release however catchy.
There will be more to come from these in the future and im sure they will chill out slightly to offer us something new ... top tracks are 'under cover martyn' & 'what you know' would be the singles to buy if you dont purchase the album in its entirity....... worth a listen

ACDC - Iron Man 2 (10/10)

yep ano its just loads of old ACDC tracks but we all as a nation need to appreciate the DC. This is the soundtrack for IRON MAN 2. Hope the film is as good as this album....
The tracks sound heavier in the way they have mixed this awesome album, its absolutely great. everythin is a little bassier than usuL with a really punchy drum sound which is not usually herd on original recording of ACDC. Its a collection of the greatest tracks this band ever did.
Back in Black , thunderstruck , highway to hell....there all on this baby !
if you have been living under a rock for your entire life and you dont own any ACDC ...god forbid !! then buy this album ....it just sums up the band .... one of the best bands ever in the world............. its a quality album !!

Kids In Glass Houses - Dirt (6.5/10)

KIGH's are back with there second studio album, what can i say.
The best way to describe this album is basically, it starts in the best way possible with top tracks like 'artbreaker i' & 'the best is yet to come', but for some reason towards the end, it kind of fizzles away into pop deadness. I mean you have guest vocals on a few tracks. These guests are that annoying one from new found glory and Frankie from the fucking saturdays. (ye tell me about it)
Its a real shame about this as the most of the album is actually quite good, its really rocking riffs and awesome melodies could take this band to the next level and get there own huge stadium tours going, but unfortuantely they need a little direction. A band like these should be bumchums with Biffy and those types of people, not the saturdays...its just a joke that is.
if they didnt have nfg and Frankie on this album it would for me be 7.5 or 8 , but unfortunately they have kind of bummed off in this respect. I really like the most of this album...but it does let its self down in places.
