Local Natives - Gorilla Manor (7.5/10)

Local Natives (formerly known as Cavil at Rest) is an indie rock band based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, USA. Their debut album, Gorilla Manor was first released in the UK, in November 2009 so i am a little slow on the uptake with this album, but its by no means old or not worth buying...what a little beauty this is.

So delicate and almost perfect, local natives really do know how to deliver angelic 3 part harmonies... really progressive yet soft and relaxing... this album takes you on a journey of tranquility from start to finnish.

The band’s also perfectly capable of delivering big anthems strong on memorable hooks – the likes of Shape Shifter and album opener Wide Eyes are sure to swim around the listener’s head for days. And while this accessibility is largely down to the breakthrough exploits of forerunners, Local Natives’ evident ambition and accomplished execution of even the grandest ideas sets them in good stead to not only follow several leads, but stand out on their own before long.
